Great Thinkers, Great Minds comprises 10 selected papers from Sunway University's own academics, highlighting original research-based findings in their respective areas of expertise. Based on Sunway University's Professorial Lecture Series presentations held between 2014 and 2016, this book encompasses an array of fascinating research prospects ......
This is the first accessible and practical guide to using multilevel models in social research. Multilevel approaches are becoming increasingly important in social, behavioral, and educational research and it is clear from recent developments that such models are seen as being more realistic, and potentially more revealing, than ordinary ......
This work describes and discusses the new computer-based research methods for studying and modelling complex social phenomena. It examines their impact on the social and behavioural sciences and their potential for future research. This wide-ranging collection is divided into three sections covering computer simulation, neural networks and data ......

Computational modelling allows researchers to combine the rich detail of qualitative research with the rigour of quantitative and formal research, as well as to represent complex structures and processes within a theoretical model. After an introduction to modelling, the authors discuss the role of computational methods in the social sciences. They treat computational methods, including dynamic simulation, knowledge-based models and machine learning, as a single broad class of research tools and develop a framework for incorporating them within established traditions of social science research. They provide a concise description of each method and a variety of social science illustrations, including four detailed examples. Common to most of these methods is a straightforward underlying approach: develop a process theory, express this theory as a computer program, and simulate the theory by running the program. The book concludes with a discussion of ways to validate computational models.
The management and design of the modern call center isbecoming increasingly complicated due to such technological changes as thegrowth of the Internet, rising customer expectations, and re-engineeringinitiatives, including call routing and staffing strategies. How call center analysts, managers, and consultants react tothese changes determines ......
