This textbook dives into the complexities of classical mechanics with an advanced perspective. It begins by exploring physical quantities and their roles in understanding motion before advancing through topics such as molecular kinetic theory, fluid dynamics, laws of thermodynamics, and oscillatory motion. The book further delves into acoustics, planetary motion, and explores the relationship between classical mechanics and modern physics theories like quantum mechanics and relativity.
Mikhail Goloubev is a professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at Bowie State University, where he teaches mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, and engineering design. He holds a Ph.D. in solid state physics and an M.Sc. in mechanical engineering. His research interests include motion analysis, computer-aided design, and the application of scientific principles in medicine. Dawit Hailu is a professor and faculty research mentor in the Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) program at Bowie State University. He holds a Ph.D. in molecular physics from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and an M.Sc. in quantum optics from Addis Ababa University. Dr. Hailu is 1 of 13 teachers across the U.S. selected for the 10th cycle of the NASA Airborne Astronomy Ambassador program.
