This is an abridged version of Storia do Mogor, written by the Venetian traveler Niccolao Manucci, who was a self-taught Italian physician and historian. He wrote an account of the Mughal Empire, providing first-hand information about the empire during the reigns of Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. It is the most detailed account of the Mughal court and their reign by a foreign traveler.
William Irvine (1840-1911) was an ICS officer and historian specializ-ing in the history of the Mughals. He was posted in Calcutta in 1863 and retired from service in 1887. He was an honorary member of the Royal Asiatic Society of Bengal.
