The first compilation of contemporary reviews and photographs of the Heavyweight Championship of the World title fight at Sydney Stadium on Boxing Day 1908 between Tommy Burns and Jack Johnson, including a record of the fight by visiting novelist Jack London, reports from the Bulletin and the Argus, illustrations by Norman Lindsay and photographs by Charles Kerry. Compiled by Tom Thompson.

Jack London was a famous US novelist who was travelling in the South Pacific in 1908 and holed up in Sydney while his boat The Snark was being repaired. His record of the fight went throughout the world, and prompted the call for a Great White Hope to beat the negro Jack Johnson.
