In the far south of Chilean Patagonia, a dwindling group of men known as 'puesteros' live in near solitude, tending livestock across vast private ranches. Once seen as symbols of freedom, their way of life now stands at a turning point, amidst unprecedented drought, modernisation, and a system that offers no real retirement, forcing many to work for as long as their bodies allow. Pie Aerts photographed over the span of six years in the Chilean region of Magallanes. COIRON explores the intimate world of some of these last 'puesteros.'
