G. K. Beales monumental New International Greek Testament Commentary volume on Revelation has been highly praised since its publication in 1999. This shorter commentary distills the superb grammatical analysis and exegesis from that tome (over 1,300 pages) into a book more accessible and pertinent to preachers, students, and general Christian reade
Gregory K. Beale is professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas. He has had a long and distinguished academic career, teaching at Grove City College, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Wheaton Graduate School, and Westminster Theological Seminary. Before joining the RTS Dallas faculty in 2021, he served as Westminster's J. Gresham Machen Chair and Research Professor of New Testament and Biblical Interpretation. He is a past president of the Evangelical Theological Society. David H. Campbell is pastor of Trinity Christian Church, Owen Sound, Ontario.
Robert W. Yarbrough -- Covenant Theological Seminary "This 'shorter' commentary (at over 500 pages) dwarfs most others -- not so much in size as in substance. Beale's 'eclectic redemptive-historical idealist view' opens up Revelation's literary flow, spiritual logic, and eschatological message. At last a commentary that actually explains Revelation rather than compounding its complexity." Thomas R. Schreiner -- Southern Baptist Theological Seminary "In this volume we are treated to a briefer version of Greg Beale's massive commentary on Revelation, but that work's exegetical depth and theological profundity are still present in the abbreviated volume. No one can afford to preach, teach, or write on Revelation without reading Beale." Reading Acts "This shorter commentary on Revelation is a welcome contribution to the ongoing study of the book of Revelation." New Horizons "Beale's shorter commentary on Revelation compresses all the treasures of the parent volume in the NIGTC series into a more accessible package. Minus the small font detail, Greek words, and some supporting arguments of the larger commentary, this tightly packed work demonstrates the potency of brevity. . . . An indispensable companion to the larger commentary, offering vital aids for teachers and students alike." Preaching "Greg Beale has pared down his impressive 1999 Revelation commentary in the NIGTC Series withRevelation: A Shorter Commentary. Much of the technical discussion is removed, and reference is made to the English text. The significant attention to Old Testament allusions and background remain. If you do not have the larger work (or have gotten lost in it), this shorter work is a must-have."
