This is a print on demand book and is therefore non- returnable. This is the first systematic and comprehensive study of the biblical view of time and history as it occurs in the Old Testament. The author specifically focuses on the use and function of certain formal expressions involving the Hebrew word yom, 'day'. The first chapter formally surveys the use of yom in the Old Testament. Chapters 2, 3, and 4 investigate, respectively, The Day Past, The Day Present, and The Day Future. They discuss, first, the various genres of historical narration: legend, saga, annals, etc; second, various kinds of discourse in which the meaning of 'today' is spoken about; and third, the prophetic and apocalyptic genres, in which the future is being defined from the present point of view.
